For years Mr. Hands a 72 year old man would open his garage door at the same time every morning and pull out this old 1935 Dodge Challenger. The whole neighborhood knew exactly what time Mr. Hands was opening up his garage and begin to work on this car all day. No one bothered to ask him why he did this they simply accepted that he did. Mr. Hands was a gentle man. He was never married, lived in the same house as long as anyone could remember. Many believed Mr. Hands was the first person in the community. His grass was always kept, his front tree was the largest and it always seemed to be cut just right to grow bigger the following year.
The Challenger was rusted, the doors were hanging off, the roof which was convertible had rips in it. The engine itself was rusted, no muffler on it. The only thing the car had which seemed to be worth it was the tires. Everyday he worked on this car. Little by little year after year part after part Mr. Hands fixed this car up. The last day it was rolled out of the garage the community could hardly believe that Mr. Hands had worked on this car fixing every inch of it by hand. This repair took 10 years.
On the last day I saw the car I approached Mr. Hands and asked him why he did this. He looked at me and said son. I use to work in the factory where this car came out of. I started out my life working on these very models. I saw this one day in a junk yard. I walked up to it looked inside and said to myself "just because this car looks broken, doesn't mean it's use is done". I though to myself if I fix this car up with original parts today this car would be worth more when I am done with it then the1000 dollars it sold for when it came off the line. Son that's why it took so long for me to fix every part is original, made new by my hand. A friend of mine had been taking pictures of the car step by step and helped me track down the parts from all over the country. Every part is documented original by Dodge. I had a man offering 1 million dollars for this car because I took what was broken and made it over into something new.. You need to understand something son it's not brand new it's made over to be new with the same hands that crafted it to begin with, that's what make it so valuable. They are new parts but parts made new from the inside out.
